I had this great thought today. You remember doing found poems in high school? You know the ones: you pull words from news headlines that stand out to you, and make your very own brand new poem out of them. If you do them well, they actually make sense have have “poetic meaning”. If you’re me, they’re hopefully at least entertaining. (er…..)
And then I thought: Hey! We have technology! (I promise I don’t live in an ACTUAL cave.) Why not embed links to the news stories in the poem?!
So that’s what I did. Click on the underlined words in the poem to be taken directly to the news story!

I need to buy the Bible of graphic design. Is there such a thing? I’d love to learn, but my school schedule is too full of things like Genetic Biology and General Chemistry to do fun things like art.
Until I find that magical book, I will enlist the help of talented graphic designers to make my world pretty. Gabrielle of Lacquerbird Wireworks is both a saint AND multi-talented. When I saw her gorgeous banner design on her shop (see the link above), I had to beg for her assistance. You can beg for her assistance, too, if you find her on Etsy shop above, or at her Flickr page.
The before, my clunky, rather frumpy own banner…
And voila, Gabrielle’s GORGEOUS makeover after:
I can’t believe how much this design makes me like the color pink! (It looks even better in the shop!) As I asked Gabrielle after it was done… “When did I become such a girlie girl?”
If you are among one of the chosen ones who can work this magic: kudos to you. Now show me your secrets.
Dads, boyfriends, husbands (I assume), brothers, uncles, and male friends are impossible to get gifts for. If you try to get them something serious, they’re bored with it. If you try to get them something funny, you inevitably miss their sense of humor completely.

So I put together a little gift guide for the man in your life, based around an item that I’m actually purchasing for my hubby. (See if you can guess which one it is… it’s hidden in there somewhere.)
